Quick Study "Put Off The Old Man"

Put off the old man; what does this mean exactly? We need to take off the old and step into the new. We need to cast down the ways of the world and step into the realm of the spirit. We need to put aside the anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive language. We may live in the flesh, but we can not allow ourselves to be controlled by the flesh. The flesh needs to be controlled by the spirit which dwells in the flesh. When we become born again, we also come to a fork in the road. We have to make the choice, do I follow the world or do I follow God? I've said this before and I will say it again, it doesn't work to serve both!!!! We can't put off part of the old man, we need to put off all of the old man. Colossians 3:2 says, "Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth." Its bad enough that we have to live in the flesh, so don't set your minds on the flesh. Set your minds to the Lord above and put off the old man.
