We are spirits living in a fleshly body. When we die, our spirit will continue to live even though our flesh will decompose beneath the ground. What I am saying is that our spirit will move on as the world is left behind. With that being said, where do you want to spend eternity? If your spirit has been renewed and you are adopted into God's family (Romans 8:14-17), your spirit will spend eternity in the presence of the Lord. While we are here and still living in the flesh, it is up to us to remain faithful and obedient to the Lord. Our focus is to be on serving and honoring God, not the things of the world. If you choose to honor the world's way, and not the Lord, your spirit will become eternally separated from the spirit of God. You will profit nothing if you seek the world's way of success. What makes this even worse is that you will not inherit eternal life. Don't get me wrong, we all work and want to succeed at what we do. The difference here is putting God first in all you do. There is two ways of doing it:
1. Seek and then follow God's will for your life (which is success in all you do.) or
2. Seek and follow the world's way (following the spirit of mammon.)
God will honor you with so much more than the world could ever give you. I challenge you to separate yourselves from the world and develop your spirit in the knowledge of the Lord. Unfortunately we can't change these fleshly bodies, but we can change the spiritual being that inhabits these fleshly bodies. The more we develop our knowledge and do the will of God, the easier it will be for us to fend off attacks from satan. You will be able to laugh in his face and throw any temptation or attacks back at him. So begin to work on your spiritual success and see mighty blessings happen in your life while you are here.
