Quick Study "He Who Believes Is Not Judged"

This week I began reading the book of John. Out of the four gospels I find John's account of the ministry of Jesus Christ to be the most interesting to read. While reading in John 3, I came across verse 17 where Jesus tells Nicodemus that God did not send His Son into the world to judge the world, but that through Him the world should be saved. This passage opened my eyes and showed me that we as Christians have no right to judge others. We need to love people as Jesus did; not judge them. If we judge them, chances are they will never find Jesus through us. I just had this thought to add as well, we as Christians should not judge other Christians. Why? In verse 18 it says, "He who believes in Him is not judged." God has not judged His own children, so why should we? The bottom line here is that we are to be walking, talking, and even thinking in love. If Jesus had judged people here on earth, His ministry would have been worthless. His ministry would have pushed more people away than it brought in. This is why we should not judge; this is why the church should not judge. We have been given the opportunity to continue the ministry of Jesus Christ. It is now up to us to love others and lead them into a personal relationship with the Father.

Joey, I agree with you to a point. Lately I have been wrestling over the seeming contradiction between the Gospels and the Pauline Epistles. The greatest challenge a person can have is to sit in a position of leadership in a body of believers. ! Corinthians 5:9-13 gives a diffent thought. 9I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

12What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked man from among you."[b]
This is harsh stuff. I totally agree with you as to those outside the church. When people live in sin they know nothing else. Those in the church is a little different. I believe that if love is your bottom line you will want to help resote those who are sinning to a right relationship with God. Bottom line is as you mentioned LOVE and in that restoration! James 5:19-20
19My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, 20remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

Thanks Al
